Review: Maybelline Colossal Super Black Kajal

eyes

I am one of those girls for whom kajal is one thing that silently helps me express all that I hold inside of me. It is more than just a stick of black colour it is something that I feel naked without. I never ever leave my house without kajal and I believe in the saying ‘the darker the kohl, the louder is the expression of your eyes.’

I normally use the Maybelline colossal kajal as I don’t experiment much with my kajals and mostly stick to the one which works best for me. So I went to the mall to buy the same the person working there told me that Maybelline has come with a newer version which is supposedly darker and stays longer so I thought why not give it a try.

The kajal is in the same retractable twist up pencil form but instead of the yellow colour the body is black with just a lining of yellow which looks really good. I tried it on my hands and the result was good. The line was black with a creamy texture and very smooth on application.

When I started applying the kajal on my waterline I could not see the colour at all. I had to swipe it for 3-4 times to get the intense black colour but it still did not give me the desired outcome unlike the older colossal kajal which with just one swipe under the eyes gave me the desired effect. So I was disappointed as the newer version was supposed to be better.

So instead of letting the kajal go waste, I thought to see how it looks on the upper eye lid. I applied the kajal on my upper eyelid and with some 2-3 strokes I got the dark black colour. It stayed throughout the day and when I tried to wash it with water the colour didnot even smudge. I had to use oil to remove the kajal from my eye lid.

The good thing about the new kajal is that it is waterproof and smudge proof but this is not the one for me. I guess I will be sticking to my yellow sleek stick for my eyes and will be using the new version just for my upper lid.
